About Us
Join us for Weston's wonderful celebration of National Poetry Day with the magical poetry of multi-award winning Guyanese writer, Maggie Harris, and perhaps take part by reading a poem of your own in the open mic.
Maggie Harris's award include the Guyana Prize for Literature, the Commonwealth (Caribbean) Short Story Prize and the Wales Poetry Award. Her haunting poems sing of oceans, the fruit of the land, myths, traditions and identity.
"The room is filled with a sense of wholesomeness, love, and family, when Maggie reads them. Her words also evoke the overwhelming pressure that nature, life, and decisions can have... It is elegant, beautiful, emotional, and touching:" Kirsty Louise Farley
