Need to Know Information

We want you to get the most out of your visit to Weston-super-Mare, so we have created this section to help you prepare and plan your visit before you arrive - so that no time is wasted once you are here!

Most of the main sights are within walking distance. But if you prefer the bus or want to venture a little further afield, two bus companies First Bus and Badgerline, serve the town. They both accept English bus passes. Click here to find the local timetables. For a bus ride with a difference there’s the open-top Coaster service which runs in the summer serving the neighbouring beaches of Sand Bay (number one) and Burnham (number 20). Out of season the service still runs but not as an open top.

Several of the buses stop at the railway station, from where there is an excellent train service to Bristol, Bath, Taunton and beyond. From the train station it is a 15 minute signposted walk to the seafront. There is a taxi rank outside the train station.

Apple Taxis provide another good alternative.

If you are coming by car, you'll be pleased to know Weston was named the easiest place to park in the South West in a recent survey. Most of the parking is close to the town, seafront and all the attractions. The majority of the parking spots are chargeable though. At busy times parking is often allowed on the beach itself at the Royal Sands end but make sure you follow the parking attendants instructions to ensure your vehicle doesn't get washed away by the tide.

In case you don't know, Weston and the Bristol Channel has the second highest tidal range in the world only exceeded by the Bay of Fundy in Canada. This means that often the sea can be a long way out and then take a long time to come back in again. Take a look at the tide times here. But don't worry if the tide is out when you come because we have our lovely Marine Lake where the tide is always in for swimming, paddling and paddleboarding.

Wheelchair users can hire one from Dalesway, in the town centre. 

And one more thing before you come, you might want to have a few 20 pence pieces in your pocket so that you can spend a penny.

You can also pop into our Visitor Information Centre at 32 Waterloo Street, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1LN. The office is open from 10am - 5pm Monday to Thursday and from 10am until 4.30pm on Fridays. Weekend opening hours are from 10am until 4pm.
