Love Weston Schools' Tag Rugby Tournament with Weston-super-Mare RFC

About Us

To celebrate the opening day of the 2015 Rugby World Cup, Love Weston, in association with Weston-Super-Mare RFC, are holding an event for local schools at the club.

The Tag Rugby Tournament will see teams from each school representing a country and taking the tournament through group stages to a grand final!

All primary schools in Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding villages were invited to take part, and six schools came forward. They received a coaching session from professional Glenn Dickson prior to the summer break, and a further session takes place prior to the event.

Each school is submitting two teams from pupils in years 4, 5 and 6, each team representing a team from Europe and a team from the rest of the world:

Ashbrooke House School are representing France & New Zealand
Heron’s Moor Academy are representing Italy & Tonga
Locking Primary School are representing Ireland & South Africa
St Anne’s Primary School are representing Wales & Japan
St George’s Primary School are representing Scotland & Fiji
Uphill Primary School are representing England & Canada

Other pupils from the schools are invited to attend and support and spectate, or take part by way of making flags an banners, choreographing a cheerleading team, or anything else they wish to do related to the event and the countries their school is representing.

This is a free event, and we hope parents, as well as the local community, will come and support the tournament, as well as stay on afterwards to watch the opening ceremony in the Clubhouse, and the England v Fiji game.

The event starts at 2pm and ends at 4.30 pm
