The Commodore Hotel Pub Carvery Sand Bay Kewstoke Weston-super-Mare exterior building car park

Weston-super-Mare, Kewstoke and Sand Bay

The Commodore Hotel and Pub Carvery is situated about 2 miles from the centre of Weston-super-Mare, only minutes by car or about 20 minutes by bus.  It's just across a tiny, country road from the peace and traquillity of Sand Bay beach, a quiet beach that's popular with walkers and is dog friendly year round.  There’s very little at the beach, a tea room half way along and some loos, so it’s a perfect picnic spot or you can take a barbeque, (please do not litter, take it home with you though!)

The village of Kewstoke lies behind The Commodore, a pretty little place to explore and with one or two local shops.  Sand Bay itself is a long strip of sandy beach which often has little pink shells bordered by a higher level that was built some years ago to protect the row of houses behind it, so they are like sand dunes. At the north end of the beach you’ll find some world war 2 pill boxes and right at the top end you’ll come to The National Trust’s Sand Point that offers wonderful walks and views.

The more adventurous can take a beautiful walk from Weston-super-Mare through an Iron Age fort and Worlebury Woods, dropping down to Sand Bay and the Commodore from the other side of the woods.  This takes anywhere from half an hour to an hour, depending on your pace.

What you'll find at The Commodore

The Commodore Hotel rooms offer sea or woodland views and the majority have been refurbished over the last 18 months.  All rooms have colour TV, tea and coffee making, free WiFi and en suite bathrooms, some with bathtub with shower over and others with shower only.  There is complimentary wireless broadband internet access throughout.

There's a spacious on-site car park that is free for guests and some of the rooms are dog friendly in an annexe with easy parking right outside. Nearby there's horse riding and there are many miles of signposted walks through ancient landscapes and woodlands.

The Commodore's pub carvery is a welcoming bar and eatery, dogs are welcome throughout the bar area but are not permitted in the carvery food serving area.  The carvery is very popular, especially at weekends, and starts at a reasonable £9.95.  There is always a vegetarian option and a children’s menu too.    It’s popular with locals and residents alike so in peak season it’s as well to pre-book.

There's a wide variety of pub food available too, with many favourites always on the menu sitting alongside a regularly changing list of temptations and specials.  There are log fires in the wintry months and a selection of real ales, fine wines, alcoholic and non-alcoholic bar drinks, teas and coffees to tempt your taste buds.

There’s a beer garden and a few tables outside the front of the hotel, so you can take in the fresh air whilst enjoying your pint or cuppa.  Dog water is provided for your pooches too.

Business, private hire, weddings and more...

The Commodore is an ideal venue for conferences, parties and weddings and will always offer a warm and welcoming reception.  There are various options for conferences and for weddings, both of which are tailored to suit your individual requirements, so please call the hotel direct to discuss.

Keep an eye out too for special events open to the public, there are sometimes themed parties and live music in the function room, always timed not to keep the hotel guests awake.

Both the hotel and the bar and carvery enjoy a big following of repeat guests, always a sure sign that it's a good place to be.
