About Us
No booking required.
As part of a season of art in National Landscapes, 'View In View Out' (VIVO) transforms an empty town centre shop into an immersive, multi-layered sound installation created by co-authors Gwyneth Herbert, Jason Singh, and Chris Howard.
Inspired by collaborative workshops with young people and community groups, and exploring the land through walking, listening and making, VIVO takes you through layers of time and history, soil and stone to hear the stories of ancestors of the caves, the dying song of the Ash trees, and the birds of the plateau.
VIVO Trails: Following the launch of the VIVO installation and taking place throughout the summer, people are encouraged to visit the Mendip Hills National Landscape and engage with an augmented reality (audio and animated illustrations) trail on Mendip. This experience will also be happening in Weston's South Ward and Uphill.
The Mendip Hills National Landscape Team partnered with Super Culture to connect with Weston-super-Mare communities to encourage them to discover more about the Mendip Hills that border the town, share ideas about what nature might mean to people of Weston, and promote wellbeing & healthy lifestyles.
'View In, View Out' is commissioned by the Mendip Hills National Landscape Team and National Landscapes Association as part of Nature Calling, in partnership with Super Culture, Activate and Poetry School. Funded by Arts Council England and Defra.
