There's a powerful new play coming to Blakehay Theatre this summer, and we'd love to see you there. On Thursday 18th June 2026, Pilot's Thumb Theatre brings Touched to our Wadham Street Venue for an evening of thought‑provoking contemporary drama.
Founded in 2009, Pilot's Thumb Theatre is known for edgy social drama with strong narratives, organic characters and pithy humour, often tackling timely subjects from gender identity and press intrusion to euthanasia, insomnia and split personality disorder.
Originally scripted by Danny Strike and now adapted and rewritten by Beth Scott‑Hewlett, Touched was inspired by a short play by Laura Quigley. First staged as a three‑hander 12 years ago, this revitalised version features a new cast and fresh characters, exploring how we touch one another's lives — from the biggest events to the smallest moments.
Set in a Britain quietly reorganised by the Urban Regeneration Programme — neither government nor revolution, but a system that slips into daily life — five lives intersect:
K.C., dismissed as "touched" yet still holding on to what matters;
Thomas, hollowed by grief until K.C. notices him; Jessica, his ambitious daughter for whom emotion is a luxury;
Mason, who trusts the Programme's rules;
and Marly, chasing a new start and the chance to feel something real.
In a world designed to keep everyone apart, they find rare connection — and must weigh the cost of feeling when society tells you not to.
