Method of Working

Aga is an award-winning printmaker working with large botanical lino blocks and producing original hand printed limited edition prints. She uses her photography skills to make own reference photos as sketches for future projects. She finds it fascinating to translate black and white photos on hand drawn sketches for linocut print. Looking for the right composition with highly detailed patterns and textures submerged in light and shades is the essence of her art development. Her favourite subjects are complicated botanical patterns with 3 dimensions realistic effect. Aga is a founder of ART GALLERY & STUDIO by Aga Kubish in Weston-super-Mare.

Artist's Statement

Aga is fascinated by using the rough technique of lino printing for discovering the depth of shades and lights, she uses different kinds of hatching and doting to achieve dynamic flow. She chose the large scale one layer and one colour lino blocks to rich many plans composition.

She is endlessly fascinated by the old engraving style of Albrecht Durer but also Hokusai Katsushika and Alphonse Mucha.
