About Us
Lots of different living history elements, interactive activities and children's crafts will come together this Easter holiday for the Weston-super-Mare Museum's family friendly event 'The Broken Time Machine'. Visitors can meet a whole host of different characters, as well as taking part in trails and activities, when the time machine brings back bits of history from the museum's past into the present.Museum Supervisor, Katherine Cutlan, says that 'the museum is very special because it is actually a time machine and it lets us view the future and go back into the past. That’s how we know that during Easter the time machine is going to break down— you don’t know what era you might fall into. So we need your help to fix it!'
Following on from the popularity of our Night in the Museum and History Week events, the Easter event will feature characters from Weston's past; from our Iron Age ancestors right up to the ever-popular Clara. Rather than returning in a nice tidy order, however, the time machine is broken and what it will bring back can be a mystery. By helping us to find the broken pieces of the machine within the galleries, over the two weeks, visitors can help us to eventually restore time to the museum.
Entry to the event is free, but normal admission charges apply to the galleries: children under 16 have free admission to the museum, but must be accompanied by an adult, there is no need to book in advance. The event will take place on Tuesday 31st March to Saturday 11th April, 10am until 4pm (excluding Easter Sunday). For more information, please visit the museum website at www.westonmuseum.org, email museum@wsm-tc.gov.uk or phone 01934621028.
