Beautifully Proud
When we think of Pride we often think of a two-day festival of parades, music and people coming together to support the LGBTQ+ community. This year, for the first time ever, the community and businesses of Weston-super-Mare have come together to create a month-long programme of events under the banner of Beautifully Proud.
Beautifully Proud will see a host of activities, exhibitions and performances for all ages across multiple venues throughout Pride Month in June.
Working in partnership with local organisations such as the Proud Bar and Community Hub, University Centre Weston, Front Room, Culture Weston, Pride in Weston and The Stable Creative Hub, Weston-super-Mare Town Council has curated a programme of events throughout June to celebrate Pride Month and encourage both its businesses and residents to celebrate diversity all year long.
As part of Beautifully Proud Weston-super-Mare Town Council will be joining in with the celebrations and flying the Pride flag throughout the month. The Town Council will also be refurbishing a number of the planters and benches around the town centre and beyond to serve as part of the legacy for this Project. Local businesses will also be approached to actively promote their venues as welcoming and inclusive spaces for all. Those who sign up to the scheme will receive a sticker to proudly display to their customers showing their support of a more inclusive Weston-super-Mare.
Younger audiences can enjoy craft workshops at The Stable Creative Hub, a Family Gayme Afternoon at The Games Room and storytelling at Weston Museum.
If you're looking for something with a bit more flair The Blakehay have you covered with not one, but two Drag Shows. You can also immerse yourself in a Night of Magic, Misfits and Making Stuff Up at The Games Room or a night at the theatre at the Front Room.
