  1. The cobbled street of Vicars Close, Wells Vicars' Close, with its choristers' houses on either side. The road is believed to be the only complete medieval street left in England
Whether you’re drawn by its history, its architecture, or you just want to fill your camera with pretty pictures, Wells is a day trip to remember. From wandering its quaint streets to exploring its famous landmarks, this tiny city promises big memories.
  2. Glastonbury Tor sitting under blue skies with fluffy white clouds. The image shows a stepped path leading to the Tor and two people standing in its archway
There's so much more to Glastonbury than its famous music festival. With its rich blend of ancient history, mythical legends, and modern-day festivals, Glastonbury attracts visitors from all over the world. Whether you’re drawn to its iconic Tor, its legendary music festival, or the town’s winding streets filled with eclectic shops, Glastonbury offers something for everyone.
  3. A tall ship moored at Bristol Harbourside with the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge in the background
The exciting city of Bristol with its iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge, Banksy artwork, the SS Great Britain and harbour front is just half an hour away by train from Weston-super-Mare. With indoor and outdoor attractions, historic heritage sights, and plenty of fine dining, Bristol offers the perfect day trip.
  4. Burnham's Low Lighthouse reflected in a puddle in the sand on Burnham beach. The wooden lighthouse looks similar to a Punch and Judy stand as it sits on top of wooden stilts
The charming coastal town of Burnham-on-Sea is just a short bus ride away from Weston-super-Mare. It boasts three unique lighthouses, Britain’s shortest pier, a leaning church and a seven-mile sandy beach all the way to Brean Down passing the SS Nornen shipwreck on the way.
  5. Portishead beach and marshland bathed in golden evening sunlight looking out to Battery Point Lighthouse and across the Severn Estuary to Wales
Portishead’s position at the mouth of the Severn Estuary makes it a town of contrast. There's a cosmopolitan Marina, but there's also a traditional boating lake, an all-year round heated open-air pool and a striking arts and sculpture trail. Throw in two of the most peculiar-looking lighthouses you will see anywhere on the British coast and Portishead really does make for an excellent day out from Weston-super-Mare.
  6. View over Uphill Marina and Uphill campsite lake with Uphill's cliffs and Church sitting on top of the cliff in the background
Visit the picture postcard village of Uphill which is nestled on the outskirts of Weston-super-Mare. Admire its cliffs, award-winning beach, pretty estuary and Marina before climbing the viewing tower for stunning 360 degree views all across Somerset and out across Brean Down to Wales
  7. Golden sunset view across the golden and orange sea to Clevedon's historic grade one listed Victorian pier. The image is taken from Ladye Bay beach and includes some of that beach in the foreground
Clevedon is a must-visit charming seaside town just up the coast from Weston-super-Mare. It combines stunning landscapes, an iconic Victorian pier, the historic Curzon Cinema and a fine array of independent restaurants, cafes and shops as well as pretty walks and a large Marine Lake
  8. View from the top of the rocky Cheddar Gorge across to the circular bowl of Cheddar Reservoir
Cheddar Gorge is one of Britain's most spectacular must-see landmarks. Look up in awe at the jaw-dropping cliffs or descend deep underground into one of the show caves. And, before you leave, don't forget to pick up some famous Cheddar Cheese
