About Us
new music wells festival (Wells Cathedral)new music wells is an innovative festival and a retrospective of sacred choral and organ music of the previous forty years. Performances take place during services at the Cathedral with world premiere performances by Wells Cathedral Choir and organists of music by internationally renowned composers, local composers, and composition students from Wells Cathedral School. There are also concerts and a public masterclass with the featured composer of the year.
AN EVENING WITH THE MASTER OF THE QUEEN'S MUSIC
Join us at Wells Cathedral for a rare opportunity to hear the featured composer of our new music wells 76-16 festival, Judith Weir CBE (Master of the Queen's Music, and one of the UK's finest contemporary composers), in conversation with fellow composers Judith Bingham and Howard Skempton, along with Matthew Owens. There will also be an opportunity for questions from the audience.
