If you’re happy to put a little ‘sand’ into your ‘sandwich’ Weston Beach is a lovely spot with views of Wales across the water. Whilst spending the day out you can unfold your picnic blanket and sit in the sun.
If you fancy and impromptu picnic but don’t have a picnic blanket, Ashcombe Park is the place to go. It has benches dotted about and a small cafe serving hot and cold drinks, snacks and public toilet. A large fenced in play area that is separated into two areas that caters for both younger children and older children.
Beautiful colourful borders, respectful areas for the war memorials, water features, bandstand that has events, tennis court, and a special garden dedicated to the memory of local and journalist Jill Dando. It’s a welcome change from the beach and well worth a visit.
If you are a bit of a birdwatcher this is a lovely place to sit. Views of birds by a small stretch of water. A chance to sit and have a picnic watching the herons and egrets in a wonderfully quiet location. A walk along the sea wall means that this is the perfect circular walk, and all done in a couple of hours.
Brean Down is easily accessible from Weston Super Mare great destination for a picnic. Incredible views across the Bristol Channel walking out and then views of Weston Super Mare on the way back. There’s a cafe at the bottom of the hill that provides loads of ice cream and cream teas.
With beautiful scenery and views from the top on this National Trust land. Birds and butterflies can be found here. deal for picnics. Lots of birds of prey to see. Great views across to Wales on good day. You can walk a round trip coming back via Middle Hope.
A lovely quiet park just off Marine Parade. Great for a good break from the hustle and bustle. Take lunch along with you for picnics on the grass. There are small children’s play area, and a few benches.
If you go down to the woods today you’ll find Weston Woods which covers an area of 130 hectares dominating the northern skyline of Weston-super-Mare. You can also find a Narnia trail; no-one knows who made it, perhaps Mr Tumnus himself!
The lake keeps seawater in and thus provides a safe area free from tidal influence. Great for families’ days out with a picnic for lunch. The small beach is kept clean so it is a nice place for the children to paddle and play. The building on Knightstone Island has a couple of cafes where it is good to sit for coffee.
Roughly triangular garden on the sea ront overlooking Birnbeck Island and Pier. The garden divides into two areas, one being the upper level plateau abutting Upper Kewstoke Road and on the western side is the cliff face. The garden has a path running through its colourful flower beds and a circular pond with a fountain at its centre. A tilted surface leading out into the view of the sea, a great destination for a picnic with beautiful scenery.
