Tiffin at Clevedon Pier

About

Tiffin's two eateries in the charming coastal town of Clevedon will be a delight to both your tastebuds and your eyes.

Tiffin pride themselves on finding premises in picturesque places and the local owners have excelled themselves here with a spectacular glass restaurant on the town’s historic grade one listed pier itself and also a separate tea shop and cafe looking out onto the pier and the beach.

It is perhaps not surprising that Tiffin occupies two of the most sought-after locations in Clevedon. The owners are local and always dreamed of running a tea shop in their seaside home town. That shop, the ever-popular The Beach Tiffin, with its enchanting view of the town’s Victorian pier and its tantalising array of meals, cakes and fancies made by a local patisserie came first and was then followed by the eye-catching Tiffin at The Pier seafood restaurant.

With fabulous outlooks to feast your eyes on and menus to delight your appetite, as well as an ultra-tempting naughty corner for those with a sweet tooth, both premises provide the perfect place to unwind and enjoy good quality food while drinking in the views no matter the occasion.

The glass Pier Restaurant is a unique dining experience as it offers uninterrupted views down the historic pier, which Sir John Betjeman once described as England’s most beautiful pier and where, more recently, One Direction posed for a photoshoot.

Being so close to the sea, it is hardly surprising that it has built up an enviable reputation for its enticing and award-winning fish-inspired dinner menu which reels many a foodie in for an evening of memorable dining. The setting is spectacular and with its intimate candle lighting, its unrivalled view down the pier and also looking upwards to the stars, it is hardly surprising that it is a popular venue for that special occasion as well as wedding receptions and even marriage proposals.

If you want to save that full night-time table service, feasting on mouth-watering dishes such as Moroccan Monkfish or Cornish Megrim Sole served with seaweed mash, roasted squash, watercress, caper and lemon sauce, for that special evening, then it also does a roaring takeaway trade in traditional seaside fish and chips and, of course, the chef’s celebrated special tartare sauce. As with all things Tiffin, even here the little details are thought of with the fish and chips being served in delightful boat-shaped trays which are recyclable.

Tiffin prides itself on being eco-friendly and adhering to its produce over profit ethos. Its takeaway coffee cups are also recyclable and both outlets source local food and produce. Its fish arrives fresh from the South West’s shores each day and its beers and ales are even closer, coming from the Twisted Oak brewery just a few miles away in the village of Wrington.

The dinner menu is served from 6pm to late, Tuesday to Saturday but by day, Tiffin at the Pier adopts a more laid back approach to dining with its seaside picnic menu and a different layout inside. Not that you are committed to eating under the glass. If you prefer, and the weather is fine, you can take your pick from dishes such as Crispy Cockles to Dressed Crab Salad or from breakfast rolls to burgers to name but a few and eat them anywhere you like along the quarter-of-a-mile boardwalk which is lined with more than 10,000 plaques commemorating a special occasion or a loved one.

And in the summer months, don’t forget the quaint Pagoda café which sits high at the far end of the pier offering magnificent views back to Clevedon and out across the channel to Wales.

However, you don’t even have to venture onto the pier (where an entrance charge applies) to enjoy the delights of Tiffin. Tiffin’s Beach eatery and tea house on the seafront is the perfect place for breakfast, lunch-with-a-view, or that special afternoon tea.  With its imaginative menu and good sized portions it is the ideal place to refuel after a walk or to relax with friends and treat yourself to something sweet while admiring the setting.

Here, dogs are welcome in the large outdoor area where heaters and blankets will help you and your pet to enjoy the view all year round.

Tiffin provides gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options as well as seasonal menus while championing traditional service values and regional produce.

It can also cater for weddings, parties and special occasions.
