About Us
Monk's Steps (also known as St Kew's Steps) are an ancient set of stone steps leading from Woodspring Avenue towards St Paul's church, Kewstoke, through the woods on Monk's Hill. Although the origins of the steps are unknown, it is possible that there was a connection with the monks at Woodspring Priory which is at the north end of Sand Bay, Kewstoke. There's an Iron Age settlement in the adjacent woodland on Worlebury Hill, so it could even be that they used the hill for access too and the steps were added later. The steps are now cared for by the National Trust.
