The Easter holidays and springtime are the perfect time to visit Weston-super-Mare.
The donkeys will be back on the beach, the spectacular viewing wheel is back bigger and brighter than ever before, offering stunning panoramic views across Weston and out across the Bristol Channel to Wales.

Our famous Grand Pier will be in full swing with rides and fairground attractions to suit all ages - including some brand new rides and go karts.
We've got beautiful countryside walks and of course our magnificent beach so why wait until summer before giving yourself that little getaway?
And now, that the clocks have gone forward, you've got that extra hour of daylight to enjoy everything before getting involved in our nightime vibe - which for the first time ever, on April 21, features the Weston Comedy Village with stand-up comedians bringing the house down in five venues across the town.
For one night only, more comedians than you could shake a stick at will be coming together to perform across five different venues in Grove Village.
From 7.30pm onwards on Friday, April 21 The Black Cat, The Stage Door, The Brit Bar, Loves, The Blakehay Theatre and The Stable Games Room will be filled with laughter as both well-known comedians and up-and-coming local stars team up to provide the laughs. Some of the big names include BGT finalists but you never know who you might find! Tickets are free but make sure you check out individual venues for reservations and menus.
And of course, Easter wouldn't be Easter without chocolate. We've got Christopher's House of Chocolates where you can even have a go at making them.
Make sure you visit our what's on calendar to get the lowdown on exactly what is on from now until the end of spring and don't forget April gets off to a real flier.
You would be an April fool to go anywhere else on April 1 and 2nd. The month kicks off with a bang (literally) with the Helicopter Museum's Military History weekend (pictured below) where the area surrounding Weston Airfield's restored WW2 era Control Tower and Pilots Block will be brought to life by re-enactors. There will also be tank driving demonstrations and live firing on both days.

If that's not enough adrenaline for you, check out Puxton Park's Mud Master event on the same weekend. There's a children's version on the Saturday followed by an adult version of the testing assualt course on the Sunday, see picture below.

The ever-popular Eat:Weston Festival returns to the Italian Gardens on April 29. The free-to-attend event showcases more than 70 local producers.
The events keep on coming as we roll into May when of course we will gather over the Bank Holiday weekend 6th, 7th and 8th to celebrate the King's Coronation. Among the events being organised is a Coronation Picnic in Grove Park while there is a whole plethora of events in Kewstoke over the weekend including a family sports day. A Coronation fireworks display over the historic pier forms part of Clevedon Pier's Royal celebrations. The fireworks display is part of an 11-hour celebration at Clevedon Pier on Sunday, May 7.

The event will see pier favourites, the Barnacle Buoys perform, while there will also be performances from the local Rock Choir, Tillie’s School of Performing Arts, and Bristol’s finest (and silliest), pirate-themed, folk-rock sing-a-long band!
As well as live music and dance, there will be family fete games, and the ever-popular Andrew Nicholls Typewriter Bloke. The evening, ticket-only event, will see live music to get you dancing and a great view of the fireworks.
Weston's Pier also has a number of Coronation events from Saturday 6th May to Monday 8th May, including a free royal scavenger hunt with prizes up for grabs. They will be showing the Coronation Live on Saturday and will be having stilt walkers on Saturday 6th May, Sunday 7th May & Monday 8th May. The Pier is also offering Coronation cream teas, cocktails and even Union Jack candy floss.
Meanwhile, Grove Park will be transformed into a meadow of beautiful ornamental daisies on Monday, May 8 as part of the first ever Good Grief Weston Festival. People can buy a daisy now to help raise money for Weston Hospicecare.

The festival aims to trigger conversations around death and bereavement through a range of workshops, performances and events. Among the events is an outdoor performance in Grove Park of The Guy in The Luggage Rack pictured below on May 8 where you will need to keep you eyes peeled upwards to catch the action as the show combines physical comedy with striking aerial acrobatics and a constantly moving aerial set.

There's even a synchronised swimming demo and a have-a-go session at Marine Lake on May 7.

In May we also have the brilliant Circus Zyair pictured above and below coming to town. If you haven't seen them before, you've missed out and if you have seen them already we know that you will want to see them again.

Fans of Lego will have May 14 etched into their diaries because that's when the Weston Brick Festival comes to Hutton Moor Leisure Centre and with things like speed-building competitions on the agenda there, it is set to be a Lego experience to remember.
Speed and fast times will also be on the agenda for some of the competitors in the Weston-super-Mare Half Marathon, which is also on May 14, while for others it will be a case of making it round. Whichever way, it is a spectacular event which takes in some gruelling beach running so if you're around to watch please give all the runners a cheer because it makes a massive difference. Here's a link to the course map.
With so many things happening, there's no need to rush straight back when we've got so much accommodation in the area. Check out our Where to Stay pages to explore staying in Weston-super-Mare a bit longer. You can take your pick from hotels, traditional B&Bs, self catering and camping.
