Armed Forces sunset ceremony

Weston-super-Mare will come together this June to honour the dedication, service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community with a special flag-raising ceremony in the heart of the town.

Taking place in the town centre Italian Gardens on Friday 19 June at 6.30pm, the Raise the Flag, Honour the Covenant ceremony marks the start of Armed Forces Day celebrations and offers residents and visitors alike the opportunity to show their support for serving personnel, veterans and military families.

As the Armed Forces Day flag is raised, the ceremony will recognise the important contribution made by those who serve, both past and present, while reaffirming the town’s commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant.

The event is expected to bring together members of the Armed Forces community, veterans, cadets, local organisations and residents for an evening of reflection, gratitude and civic pride.

The flag-raising ceremony is just the beginning of Weston-super-Mare’s Armed Forces and Emergency Services Day celebrations, which continue with events recognising the invaluable work carried out by military personnel and emergency service teams who help keep our communities safe..
