About Us

Hideaway is a dog-friendly self-catering Georgian farmhouse situated in tranquil countryside less than four miles away from Weston-super-Mare on a no-through-road lane in the village of Lympsham.

It is a great place to recharge your batteries, re-energise and unwind.  With free parking for 4 – 5 vehicles, it’s the perfect location for families to meet up to enjoy a wonderful holiday together.

The property, which sleeps up to eight guests, is rural but not isolated. It is situated just ten minutes away from junctions 22 and 23 of the M5 motorway.

Once there, you can relax in tasteful, comfortable surroundings in a lovely 17th century house with large, private, safe and enclosed garden. Up to three dogs are welcome, so they can enjoy a holiday too.  The large garden wraps around the front and the side of the property and regularly attracts wildlife, you might get lucky to spot owls, pheasants, swans or rabbits.  The owners live adjacent and their smallholding will entrance you with their ducks, chickens and bantams who all enjoy a bit of pampering.

Hideaway is close to some great dog-friendly beaches where your pet can frolic in the sea and chase a ball all year round. Uphill beach leading onto Weston-super-Mare beach is less than a 10-minute drive away and Burnham-on-Sea, Berrow and Brean beaches are all close by, so you are spoilt for choice.

The Hideaway is also ideally situated to explore Somerset’s finest visitor and natural attractions such as the Mendip Hills with their pretty villages, Brean Down with its areas of historical interest and wonderful views towards Wales.  Within striking distance there’s family entertainment that children will enjoy, such as Weston-super-Mare’s Grand Pier, Puxton Park, Court Farm,  Brean Leisure Centre and Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm.  Slightly further afield but under an hour’s drive there’s Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge and its caves, Wells with its beautiful cathedral, The Bishop’s Palace and gardens. Glastonbury Tor and Abbey is also within an hour’s drive and Bristol is only 20 miles away.

Weston-super-Mare is so close by, not only can you enjoy fun by the sea, you’ll also find plenty of hostelries and cafes that are dog friendly.  There are also many events and festivals to enjoy, such as the annual motorbike Beach Race or the Real Ale Festival.  In November watch the free spectacular Winter Carnival - one not to be missed. There’s so much to see and do in this wonderful corner of Somerset that one visit is never enough!

Period features abound throughout the property which offers a sociable, well-equipped kitchen diner with breakfast bar and dining table seating eight, off which there’s a utility room, cloakroom and separate shower room along with a ground floor double bedroom that’s perfect for those who can’t manage stairs. There’s also a very spacious lounge with smart TV and Blu Ray DVD player where you can snuggle down in front of the cosy wood-burner and watch a good film together.

An attractive hallway with original staircase leads up to a galleried landing off which you’ll find a master bedroom with king size bed, a double bedroom and a twin bedroom with two single beds. Two of the bedrooms have washbasins and there’s a family bathroom with corner bath with shower over. The kitchen features a double oven and grill and also boasts a dishwasher while, in the utility room, there is a washing machine and coin-operated tumble dryer.

On those balmy evenings, stay home, have a leisurely BBQ and a few drinks.  Our solid wood garden furniture and brick-built charcoal BBQ is at your disposal if you wish to sizzle up something tasty.

Guests can enjoy a supervised tour of our smallholding.  You’ll find that spring and summer offer magical and busy times of year here and you may even see a lamb or calf being born or get a chance to help us feed our many animals.
