A perfect seaside snapshot
Short on time but keen to experience the best of Weston-super-Mare? This easy-paced itinerary packs classic seaside charm, local character, and sweeping coastal views into one memorable visit.

Hour 1-2: Grand Pier Fun
Head out onto the iconic Grand Pier for a dose of traditional seaside fun. Try your luck in the arcades, enjoy the rides, and take in panoramic views across the Bristol Channel.
Hour 2-3: Seafront Stroll & Coastal Views
Step back onto Weston’s wide, level promenade and enjoy the fresh sea air. Look out across the Bristol Channel to spot the two Holm islands – including Flat Holm, from where Marconi transmitted the first radio signal across water.
To the south, you’ll see Brean Down, a dramatic headland stretching into the sea. On a clear day, you may even make out the fort at its tip, where the famous bouncing bomb was tested during the Second World War.
Stroll north towards Knightstone Island, once a Victorian spa destination, and pause for a coffee at Dr Fox’s traditional tea room. If the weather is warm, dip your toes into Marine Lake, where the water remains in even when the tide is out.
Hour 3-4: Birnbeck & Beatles Rock
Continue north along the promenade – or, if the tide allows, walk across the causeway – towards Birnbeck Pier, the only pier in the UK set on its own island. While it undergoes restoration, it remains one of Weston’s most striking and photogenic landmarks, with a volunteer-run information cabin nearby.
While you’re there, take a seat on Beatles Rock, made famous when The Fab Four posed there during their six-night run in Weston in 1963.

Hour 4-5: Lunch by the Sea
While you’re there take lunch and enjoy excellent sea views at The Captains Cabin, or wander into the town centre to explore independent shops, cafés and hidden corners. Keep an eye out for Weston’s growing street art scene, with huge colourful murals in unexpected spaces and side streets.

Hour 5-6: Culture Stop
Visit Weston Museum, home to fascinating local stories and a piece by Banksy created for the town’s infamous Dismaland exhibition. The museum is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Hour 6–7: Seaside Fun & Games
No trip to the seaside is complete without a little friendly competition. Stop for a game of crazy golf along the seafront – a fun and easy-going way to round off your afternoon. If the weather changes, no problem – head inside and enjoy a neon version of the game at Revo Kitchen on Weston’s newest, shortest and third pier.
Hour 7–8: Sunset & Farewell

Round off your visit on the seafront. Pick up some of Weston’s famous fish and chips and find a front row bench to watch one of the town’s unforgettable sunsets as the light fades across the Bristol Channel.
If the weather decides not to play ball, head into the town centre to see the Silica spire – known locally as “the carrot” or “the parsnip.” The spire is illuminated in a display of colours at night.
