It’s Spectator Heaven
The calm sands become a racetrack: a shoreline straight where sea spray clouds riders’ visors, followed by tight corners, bogs, and towering sand dunes. At the start, hundreds of bikes surge forward in what’s been described as a “six-lane motorway without rules.”
For riders, it’s chaos, crashes, and sheer fear. For thousands of spectators lining the beach, it’s entertainment heaven.
Families line the track waving flags. Kids sit on shoulders, eyes wide as engines scream past. It’s loud, muddy and completely unforgettable
Pain, Glory, and Pure Madness
Tom Phillips once finished the race with his quad bike exhaust burning straight through his kit and into his leg. In searing pain, he was hosed down by medics – then went straight back out and finished. Days later, he needed skin grafts. Was it worth it?
“Yes. Definitely,” he said – such is the lure of this must-see event where finishing is the achievement. It’s a badge of honour.
Sidecars: Double the Chaos
And it’s not just solo bikes. Sidecars are fan favourites – two riders, double the chaos. Brutal, unpredictable, and captivating to watch.

Beyond the traditional race days, the weekend now offers even more. Meet-and-greet sessions return on Friday, along with free spectator access to Friday’s SXS class. Expanded grandstands double capacity after huge demand last year.
