The Vee Dubs Christmas Cruz happens every December and has quickly grown into a must-see festive tradition. Each year, more than 150 Volkswagen owners transform their vans and cars with elaborate festive displays., creating a rolling spectacle of colour, lights, and Christmas magic.
Families line the pavements, children wave from parents’ shoulders, and cameras flash as the convoy passes. Christmas music, cheerful horns, and laughter fill the evening air, creating a warm, joyful atmosphere that brings the community together.

From wacky Idea to Major Christmas Event
What started as one couple’s wacky idea in 2017 has snowballed into a major Weston-super-Mare Christmas event. Steve Wright and Sam Pearce are the original “bright sparks” behind the parade, and their festive vision now attracts thousands of spectators each December.
The parade has grown bigger, brighter, and more extravagant every year, firmly establishing itself as a highlight of the winter season in Weston. While it may not yet rival the towering carts of November’s Weston Carnival, the Cruz offers its own unique magic and charm – a family-friendly, visually spectacular celebration of Christmas.
Behind the scenes: creating the glow
Each VW represents hours of preparation, with some vehicles carrying up to 35,000 sparkling lights. Christmas trees, baubles, and larger-than-life Santas are carefully mounted to roof racks, transforming everyday vans into incredible festive displays.
This commitment not only creates a dazzling spectacle – it also has a charitable heartbeat. Over the years, the Vee Dubs Christmas Cruz has raised over £84,000 for Bristol Children’s Hospital’s Grand Appeal, making it a celebration with heart.

Route and What to Expect
The parade typically:
- Starts at Queensway Retail Park in Worle
- Travels along the Boulevard
- Continues along Weston’s seafront
- Finishes at Gallagher Retail Park (The Range) just before 6.30pm.
After the parade, visitors can walk among the vehicles, take photos, meet the drivers, and donate to charity.
