About Us

Come and have a go at Sailing on Cheddar Reservoir. Book a half hour slot and get to sail in one of the BCYC club boats.

Ever thought about having a go and wondered how to get started? Here is your chance to come and meet the members of one of the friendliest clubs in the South West, with a fantastic reputation for making everyone welcome. It's a great opportunity to find out about the club, or just have fun trying something new.

Get out on the water with experienced members or qualified sailing instructors and get hands on experience. Suitable for all ages - each boat takes two visitors and a club member to show you the ropes, introduce you to the basics and show you what to do. Sailing is for all the family, one of the few sports suitable for everyone from 8 to 80.

Whatever your reason, just want have a go, keen to try something new, had a desire to sail for years, this is your chance.
What is RYA Push the Boat Out?

The Royal Yachting Association is the governaing body for sailing in the UK, and Push the Boat Out is all about getting out on the water and discovering sailing.Bristol Corinthian is a recognised Training Centre and Champion Club certified by the Royal Yachting Association, and we have a team of RYA qualified Instructors (Dinghy, Windsurf and Powerboat Instructors) which enables our club to offer a variety of taster sessions and training courses for adults and juniors.

What Do I need to Bring?
We have bouyancy aids and waterproofs that you can borrow. Please bring warm clothing and a change (just in case the kids splash you) along with a pair of shoes that can get wet. If required we have wetsuits you can borrow to have a go at stand up paddleboarding, and if it's sunny please bring shorts, hat, sunglasses and suncream.

Please arrive at the club one hour before your allotted time on the water - there will be a safety briefing, introduction and tour of the club. You will be transferred to the sailing boats by club powerboat (all club members are trained to use the powerboats) and once finished sailing, if you're feeling brave, have a go at stand up paddleboarding and risk getting wet, before enjoying a cup of tea.

Who can take part?
All ages are welcome, but the agility to climb in and out of boats is required. If you have a medical condition, this should not stop you from taking part, just let us know. If you would like to sail as a three then let us know and we will organise a bigger boat for you to use together. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, but why not - this is for all the family, not just the kids.

How much will it cost?
We ask for a donation fo £5 per person to secure your place on Push The Boat Out - you can choose your time slot. The Club will provide you with a cup of tea and every participant will receive a voucher for £20 off BCYC membership.

I want to know more before I book!
