Why choose one festive treat when you can have the full Christmas Cracker!!!
Start with hundreds of Santas, elves and Christmas crackers racing along the seafront. Then, as daylight fades, watch 150 spectacularly decorated Vee Dubs bring a whole new kind of sparkle to Weston. Two very different events. One gloriously festive day out. And the best bit? You don’t have to choose.
Christmas cracker

Imagine hundreds of Santas, elves, reindeer and Christmas puddings charging along the seafront.
Yes, really.
The Christmas Cracker 10K is one of Weston’s much-loved festive traditions, and it’s back for its 38th year.
The race starts beneath the Grand Pier at 11am, with runners taking on a predominantly flat course along the beach and tarmac. Some will be chasing a personal best. Others will be tackling their first 10K.
And some will simply be wondering whether it is possible to run 10 kilometres dressed as a Christmas pudding.
It is.
Fancy dress isn’t just encouraged here – it’s part of the fun. So if you’re watching rather than running, bring the family, wrap up warm and prepare to spot some seriously imaginative festive outfits whizzing past.
There’s a Junior Cracker at 10am, too, with young runners taking on approximately a mile on the beach and every finisher receiving a medal.
So that’s your morning sorted.
Then what?
Here’s where the genius of this particular Sunday really kicks in.
Don’t go home.
You’ve got the whole day ahead of you.
Once the last Christmas Cracker runner has crossed the finish line, you’ve got plenty of time to enjoy Weston. Grab some lunch. Explore the seafront. Do some Christmas shopping. Find a cosy café. Take in the sea air.
Or simply embrace the fact that you’re already in the perfect place for a festive day out.
Because something rather spectacular is waiting for you later.
And then the Vee Dubs arrive…

As the afternoon turns towards evening, the Christmas Cracker’s running shoes give way to something altogether more mechanical.
Around 150 Volkswagen vehicles, each decorated for Christmas, will take to the roads for the Vee Dubs Christmas Cruz.
And when we say decorated, we’re not talking about a tasteful little wreath on the front grille.
This is Christmas like you’ve never known it! The full pumped up version that makes Santa’s Sleigh look tame in comparison!
Lights. Baubles. Christmas characters. Elaborate creations in a spectacular rolling cavalcade of Christmas joy.
The Weston Cruz sets off from Queensway Retail Car Park at 5.30pm, travelling through Worle, along the Boulevard and towards the seafront before finishing at Gallagher Retail Park just before 6.30pm.
Thousands of people have turned out to watch the Cruz in previous years – and it’s not hard to see why.
There’s something wonderfully infectious about standing at the roadside as a stream of illuminated Volkswagens rolls towards you, horns beeping, lights flashing and crowds waving.
It’s Christmas all revved up!
And there’s a very big heart behind all that sparkle
The Vee Dubs Cruz isn’t just a spectacular sight.
Since Steve Wright and his partner Sam Pearce started the event in 2017, it has grown from 42 vans raising £3,500 into a huge community celebration that has raised more than £84,000 for Bristol Children’s Hospital’s Grand Appeal.
The perfect Christmas appetiser
And perhaps that’s what makes this particular day so special.
The Christmas Cracker gets you into the festive spirit.
The Vee Dubs Cruz turns the festive spirit all the way up.
In between, you’ve got a seaside town to explore, food to enjoy and plenty of time to soak up that unmistakable pre-Christmas feeling.
You could run.
You could watch.
You could bring the children.
You could come with friends.
Or you could do what we think might be the best option of all: Do the lot.
Mark it in your diary
