About Us
Sand Bay is a long, expanse of sand and shingle, lying just 2 miles north of Weston-super-Mare, and across the Bristol Channel from South Wales. Popular with both beachcombers and horse riders due to it being long and flat.
Just a few minutes away from busy Weston-super-Mare, and is the perfect place to visit with family and dogs whilst in Weston-super-Mare. It can be easily visited on the open-topped buses taking the scenic route on the coast road. All buses are fine with dogs. Sand Bay is often referred to as "Weston-super-Mare's hidden gem". With a quaint and welcoming tea room near to the bus terminus is welcoming and prepares lovely food (dogs are welcome), at the far end there are lovely walks and a car park visited by an ice cream van. At the town end is South Sands Hotel which allows dogs into its bar. The beach is totally dog-friendly and there are three reasonably priced car parks along its length.
There are no restrictions for dogs at any time of the year on this beach.
Horse Riders are permitted on Sand Bay. However, horses must ride along the tide line, avoiding pedestrians and the sand dunes at all times. There is good parking for horseboxes at the southern end of the bay, adjacent to the main car park.
