Fire performers, spectacular stilt walkers, the Grinch, Olaf, a Christmas market and fireworks over the sea! Weston-super-Mare is gearing up for a festive celebration with a serious wow-factor on Saturday, 14th November.
Forget a quick dash out to see the Christmas lights! Festive Weston is bringing a whole afternoon of festive magic, spectacular entertainment and unexpected surprises to the town centre, culminating in a Christmas lights switch-on and a spectacular fireworks display over the sea.
Fire, flames and a whole lot of festive fun!
Things are about to get seriously spectacular in the Italian Gardens, where fantastic street performers Calvos will be bringing their show-stopping stilt walkers to the celebrations. And if you like your festive fun with a little extra heat, prepare to be wowed by Flame OZ, whose spectacular fire performance is guaranteed to turn up the temperature!
But that’s just the beginning. From midday, the main stage will be alive with music and entertainment, while the Christmas independent market offers the perfect opportunity to browse unique stalls, discover gifts and pick up some delicious festive treats. It’s never too early to start that Christmas shopping… especially when there’s a festive atmosphere to enjoy along the way!
Oh no… the Grinch is coming!
Two very special visitors will be making their way to Festive Weston, and they’re bringing rather different festive vibes with them!
From around 2pm, the mischievous Grinch and everyone’s favourite snowman, Olaf, will be joining the fun. Will the Grinch attempt to steal Christmas? Will Olaf find somewhere snowy to chill? You’ll have to come along to find out!
There’s more entertainment on the main stage, too, with solo artists followed by the uplifting sounds of Rock Choir from around 3pm. Expect feel-good tunes, festive cheer and plenty of reasons to stick around.
And just when you think that there can’t be any more special guests, the best is saved until last with a real-life Weston beach donkey joining the festivities.
The countdown is on…
As afternoon turns to evening, the excitement will build. At around 4pm, Flame OZ will bring the heat with a spectacular fire performance, followed by the stirring sounds of Weston Brass at approximately 4.15pm.
Then comes the moment everyone’s been waiting for…
At around 5.30pm, Weston-super-Mare’s Christmas lights will burst into life, transforming the town centre into a sparkling festive wonderland. But don’t head home just yet! The celebrations will continue with a grand finale parade led by a marching band, featuring the Mayor of Weston-super-Mare and Digi Stars, whose dazzling LED poi performances will add another burst of colour and spectacle to the evening.
And then… fireworks over the sea!
Just when you think the day couldn’t get any more spectacular, there’s one more reason to stay.
At approximately 6.30pm, The Grand Pier will host its spectacular Fireworks at Sea, lighting up the skies above the coast with a dazzling display to round off your festive visit in unforgettable style. This free spectacle is visible all along the promenade. But if you want to get even closer to the action you can buy tickets to be on the pier and enjoy free rides.
From live music and market browsing to mischievous Christmas characters, fiery performances, sparkling lights and fireworks over the sea, Festive Weston is packing a lot of magic into one fantastic day.
