More details

Welcome to the Windzone—Weston’s open-air arena of wind, motion and spectacle – a natural show powered by the wind.

A skyline transformed into a sea of colour

When the wind builds, this landscape transforms into one of the most exhilarating sights on the Somerset coast. It gives Weston a skyline like nowhere else: one made entirely of wind, motion, height and colourful sails.

  • Kitesurfers catapault high into the sky, catching air in dramatic, gravity-defying jumps
  • Windsurfers and wingfoilers carve across the water at speed
  • And on selected weekends, blokarts appear—racing across the sand at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour in wind-powered three-wheeled carts

You will see the area the Blokarters race in, it is marked out by a series of wooden poles in the sand.

You don’t need to take part to feel the thrill — this is a spectacle best enjoyed with your feet on the sand and your eyes on the skyline.

You might just be watching a former world Champion

Keep your eyes peeled because you never know who you might spot here.

Windsurfer Zara Davis – a former double world-record – is a Windzone regular and many of the Blokarters have competed at international level.

A beach made for wandering

The Windzone isn’t just about adrenaline — it’s part of one of the most rewarding beach walks on the Somerset coast.

From the Grand Pier, you can stroll south along the wide, open sands towards Uphill Beach, passing through an ever-changing landscape of sky, sea and sand.

Behind the Windzone, natural sand dunes rise gently, with Weston-super-Mare Golf Club stretching out beyond — adding to the feeling of space and escape.

A dog walker’s paradise

This southern stretch of beach is also one of the best places in the area to walk your dog.

With expansive sands and fewer restrictions, it’s perfect for long, relaxed walks. Continue on to Uphill Beach and you’ll discover a quieter, more secluded atmosphere that has long been a local favourite.

In fact, this area gained national attention in 2023 when a leading holiday company named it one of the UK’s top dog walking beaches — helping it rack up more than 23 million views on TikTok.

A place worth timing right

Catch it right, and you’ll see Weston at its most energetic.

Miss it, and you’ll still have one of the best coastal walks in Somerset.
