A Peaceful Escape from the Crowds

A Paradise for Dog Walkers & Nature Lovers

Open year-round, Uphill Beach is perfect for long, scenic walks with your dog. With plenty of space to roam freely, it’s widely regarded as one of the UK’s top dog-friendly beaches. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, fresh sea air, or a quiet coastal retreat, Uphill Beach is a true hidden treasure.

how to get there

You can get to Uphill beach simply by walking south from Weston’s Grand Pier along Weston’s main beach. Alternatively, it is around two miles by road in the car. Uphill is also well-served by local buses.

What to expect on the walk

It’s a flat, scenic route along Weston-super-Mare’s sandy shoreline, making it an easy and enjoyable stroll. Depending on your pace, it typically takes:

  • 45 minutes to 1 hour

At low tide, you’ll have plenty of firm sand to walk on, but at high tide, sections closer to the sea may be covered — so it’s worth checking tide times before setting off.

Overall, it’s a lovely coastal walk that gradually transitions from the lively promenade near the pier past the sand dunes, which back onto Weston-super-Mare Golf Club, to the open landscapes of Uphill Beach and the estuary which flows through the nature reserve to the cliffs and Uphill Marina. During the walk, and close to the Uphill Beach, you will find the Windzone – an area of beach where the Blokarters have their fun, racing three-wheeled sail karts across the sand.
