The World’s Largest Helicopter Collection
Weston-super-Mare is about so much more than its beach. It is also home to the world’s largest helicopter collection which delivers one of the most unexpected and unforgettable days out in the UK. You’ve seen the signs to it, now it’s time to step inside.
Stand Beneath Giants of the Sky
This isn’t a look-from-a-distance kind of place.
Here, you’re right up close. Towering above you. All around you.
From helicopters used by the Queen’s Royal Flight to the record-breaking G-Lynx – the fastest helicopter ever built – every aircraft has a story. Step up to a Vietnam War Huey, come face-to-face with a Russian Hind gunship, and discover machines that have flown in combat, rescue missions and extreme conditions across the globe.
And on special open cockpit days? You can climb inside.

New for 2026: Even Bigger, Even Better
Already world-class – and now even more to explore.
A brand new exhibition hangar opened in 2026, bringing more aircraft, more stories and more space to discover them. It’s a major expansion that takes the experience to a whole new level – whether it’s your first visit or your fifth.
Hands-On, Family-Friendly and Full of Surprises
This isn’t just for aviation enthusiasts – far from it.
Kids can take control in the ‘Play Copter’ area, explore interactive exhibits and enjoy the on-site film theatre, while adults find themselves just as absorbed in the scale and stories surrounding them.
It’s one of the most exciting family days out in Weston-super-Mare – whatever the weather.
Take It to the Next Level: Fly in a Helicopter
Yes, really. From the museum’s own helipad, you can book a helicopter experience flight and see Weston from the air. Lift off, climb to 1,000ft and take in the coastline as your pilot talks you through the controls.
From Airport Runway to World-Class Attraction
There’s history beneath your feet too.
This site was once Weston’s airport – and one of the busiest small air routes of its time. Visitors even flew in from Cardiff for seaside weekends with the fare costing just 60 pence!
Today, that same spirit of adventure lives on – only now, instead of flying in, you get to explore the aircraft up close.
