Cardboard Pier is a community engagement project to create a giant cardboard installation inspired by the historic Grade II* Listed Birnbeck Pier in Weston-super-Mare. It will take shape in the town’s Prince Consort Gardens.
Super Culture are inviting as many people as possible to help construct the cardboard pier on Saturday 26 September. Across the day, many hands will help build the structure towards a final unveiling, which aims to take place by 6pm. No sign-up or experience is required to take part.
On Sunday 27 September, they’re again inviting people to be part of the monumental deconstruction of the cardboard pier. The materials will be recycled but the memories and stories shared are guaranteed to linger long in the memory.
Created by world-renowned visual artist Olivier Grossetête, the collaborative project invites the local community to help build, erect, and deconstruct the monumental structure, as they learn about some of the remarkable stories associated with the amazing piece of heritage.
