About Us
Gough House is a homely residential care home operated by AbbeyCare and sits just a stone’s throw from Weston-super-Mare’s glorious beach and promenade, directly opposite Ellenborough Park which is a peaceful space featuring protected plants and wildlife.
If you’re caring for someone over the age of 65 and need a holiday, or if you’re living alone and needing extra care whilst on holiday, Gough House is the perfect choice. It’s a converted Victorian building and accommodates 14 people over the age of 65 in recently re-decorated rooms, most of which have en-suite bath/shower, those which do not have en-suite have a bathroom or wet room close by. There are day-care activities offered too, so there’s always something going on or someone to talk to.
AbbeyCare was founded 60 years ago and is operated by Weston-super-Mare Free Church Housing Association Ltd on a not-for-profit basis, so you’ll find the costs fair. Fully qualified care staff work with residents and families to ensure that the resident's needs are fully understood and catered for.
It may be that you are looked after by family or friends who need a break, or you’re recovering from being unwell, you will be cared for by experienced, friendly and approachable staff who will truly make you feel at home.
You might be travelling with your own carer, Gough House can accommodate you both in a twin room or in two separate rooms. You might be coming with family members who are under the age of 65 – Gough House will assist with finding accommodation for them nearby and welcome them into the spacious lounge if they wish to visit you whilst you’re in residence.
Delicious, fresh food is provided with menu that changes daily, home-baked cakes every day and all dietary requirements catered for. Gough House will happily cater for your family or companions who might wish to join you for a meal or two, equally they will find a vast number of restaurants nearby if they want to eat out or take you out for a meal, there’s something to tickle everyone’s taste-buds within walking distance
The enhanced Holiday Respite Breaks include daytime activities, entertainment and trips. You can find out more on their Facebook page here. AbbeyCare have two other small homes on the beachfront area, Abbey Gate and The Links, both of which also offer daytime activities and can be visited by residents of Gough House.
Christian church services are offered weekly and arrangements can be made for those who do not follow the Christian faith to attend their chosen place of worship.
Varying degrees of dementia are catered for and 24-hour care is ensured, so you can be accommodated in a warm, friendly and safe environment.
