Weston Air Festival and Armed Forces 2017


Weston Air Festival and Armed Forces Day is back for 2017 from Saturday 17 - Sunday 18 June, with a vast array of free aerial displays, fun fair rides, military displays, an armed forces village, veterans parade and drumhead service, trade stands and activities to suit all ages.

Please note that all aircraft bookings are subject to availability and weather conditions. No responsibility can be taken for any cancellations to our flying programme.

The Red Arrows, BBMF Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire and the RAF Typhoon display will take to the skies over Weston Bay on both days of the air festival.

Saturday 17 June 11:30am to 12:15pm:

The Veterans parade will assemble on the seafront, near the Grand Pier, at 11.30am on Saturday, June 17. At noon it will parade along the promenade into the arena and at 12.15pm an Armed Forces Day flag will be raised.

Saturday 17 June 1:00pm to 2:30pm:

BAC Strikemaster Classic Jet Warbird and Muscle Pitts Bi-Plane, Calidus Gyrocopter, Trig Aerobatic Team, Whirlwind 10 (Search and rescue demonstration) Mig 15, T67 Firefly and Catalina Flying Boat.

Saturday 17 June 3:30pm to 5:30pm: RAF Typhoon, Schweizer 300 ‘Otto’, Girl Power Pitts Special, Gazelle Squadron, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Team Raven Display Team, P51D Mustang, Extra 330SC and RAF Red Arrows.

Sunday 18 June 1:00pm to 3:30pm:

Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Extra 330SC, RAF Red Arrows, BAC Strikemaster Classic Jet Warbird, Muscle Pitts Bi-Plane Team ,Raven Display Team, Whirlwind 10 (Search and rescue demonstration), Mig 15 and P-51D Mustang and Catalina Flying Boat.

Sunday 18 June 3:50pm to 5:30pm:

The Blades Aerobatic Display Team, Breitling Wingwalker, Schweizer 300 ‘Otto’, Girl Power Pitts Special, Gazelle Squadron, TRIG Aerobatic Team, Calidus Gyrocopter and RAF Typhoon.

The Armed Forces Weekend is formed around four major components; a veterans’ parade, an armed forces village, arena displays and a drumhead service. This will take place on the Beach Lawns.


11:30 Parade assembles on Seafront near Weston Grand Pier

12:00 hours  Band and parade will march along Promenade from Grand Pier into the arena

12:15  Formal opening and Flag Raising Ceremony

Road Directions

Travel by Car

Southbound follow the M5 to junction 21, then take the A370 exit to Weston-super-Mare.

Northbound follow the M5 to junction 22, then take the A38 exit to Weston-super-Mare/Burnham-on-Sea/Bristol (South)/Airport.

Follow the signage to the seafront.

For satnav use Marine Parade, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1BE.


Event Parking

Parking is available on the beach at Royal Sands (south seafront). Please follow directional signage. £8 per vehicle per day (cash only). There is a coach drop off point on the promenade and coach/car parking in Locking Road car park and Weston-super-Mare Cricket Club.


Disabled access

There is no disabled parking on the beach. However limited spaces are available along Marine Parade so please arrive early. There is also disabled parking in surrounding car parks.

Travel by Bus

First Group run a bus service to the seafront.

W1/X1 for travel to and from Bristol 126 for travel to and from Cheddar and Wells X5 for travel to and from Clevedon and Portishead 20 for travel to and from Brean and Burnham-on-Sea
