Climb the Magic Staircase for an amazing view

View looking down on Weston-super-Mare and its pier from Weston Woods

Grab your camera and climb the steep steps from Trinity Road up to the viewpoint in a clearing in Weston Woods – it’s not known as the Magic Staircase for nothing! Then walk along the top to the Iron-age hill-fort. From here you can extend your walk if you wish to visit the blue plaque marking the spot where General Dwight D. Eisenhower camped as he prepared troops in the lead-up to D-Day landings.

Walk the stunning Brean Down headland

You’ll need a car or bus to get to this stunning headland which dominates the view to the west of Weston’s main beach. It’s a bit of a steep start, but the views on this three-mile circular walk are ample reward on this picture-perfect walk which takes in the fort, which is well worth an explore, at the far tip.

Sand Point and Middle Hope

Catch a number one bus to Sand Bay and head for the northern headland for a circular walk you just won’t believe! Drop down into rocky coves for a picnic, enjoy stunning sea views on one side and glorious countryside on the other.
