Gardens, Parks & Nature Reserves in Weston-super-Mare

National Trust Walks, Nature Reserves, Parks and Gardens in Weston-super-Mare and Somerset

Somerset is home to some of the most beautiful gardens, estates and country houses, and all are within easy reach of Weston-super-Mare.

Many are National Trust or offer concessions to members of the Royal Horticultural Society at certain times of the year.

If you visit Somerset for a day out, then must-see attractions are Wells Cathedral and The Bishop's Palace and Gardens.  Both offer an exceptional experience at any time of year with tours and seasonal events.  The city of Wells itself is just beautiful and quintessentially English, with a selection of shops, boutiques and cafes lining its cobbled streets.

Weston-super-Mare is the ideal location for exploring the many Nature Reserves and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Somerset too...and what's best about nature is that it comes for free!

There are some beautiful places to visit on our doorstep that take in the exhilarating beauty of Somerset at its best.

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the seaside for a day or even spend a week exploring the coast and countryside of our county, we are spoilt by the abundance of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Nature Reserves, overflowing with botanic delights, wildlife and the most spectacular scenery.

There to be enjoyed at any time year, see the changing of the landscapes with the changing of the seasons.

Discover the Mendips, Quantocks, Blackdown Hills and many more during your break in Weston-super-Mare.  Uphill Nature Reserve, Weston Woods and Sand Point and Middle Hope are closest to Weston-super-Mare itself, all with lots of activity and adventure on offer.  Why not create your own "I Spy" and see what you can spot?

Weston-super-Mare has several well-kept parks offering cafes, play areas and even events throughout the year.  Meet the friendly local squirrels at any time of year, and enjoy the floral beauty that has Weston awarded Gold in the South West in Bloom Awards in both 2015 and 2016.

Ashcombe Park, Clarence Park and Grove Park all have superb children's play areas as well as cafes that are open in the high season, generally from Eastertime until the end of September, or occassionally longer if we are experiencing fine weather.  There is also the Water Adventure Play Park on the seafront towards Knightstone Island, which is open all year as a play area, but splash pads are in operation again from Easter until the end of September, weather permitting.
